Making a booking
Full payment is required at time of booking via our secure online system.
We accept all major debit and credit cards.
For security are unable to take bookings over the phone.
Upon successful booking you will recieve a confirmation email detailing your itinerary
General Policies
We know you will have a brilliant time should you choose to stay with us at Ashton House. To ensure everyone's safety it is important to observe some basic house rules, including health & safety advice, which must be adhered to at all times. Please read below carefully as all bookings will need acknowledgement that you agree to the following terms and conditions.
GENERAL
If you require any support with regards the property during your stay, please telephone 07525 460850 or send a text.
Heating is set at 22c during your stay, if you need to increase the temperature please follow the instructions provided in the house manual
Water heater is also on timer and should be constantly hot during your stay.
There is no smoking allowed in the property or on the terrace area
The kitchen is fully equipped, please do not place hot pans on the worktops. Anything in the cupboards is free for you to use including tea, coffee, sugar etc.
Towels are provided, comprising two large bath towels per person and two hand towels.
Any damages other than normal wear and tear must be covered. Please do not wear high heels ladies in the property.
On check-out please ensure all keys in doors are returned, pull the main door behind you and dispose of rubbish bags in the bins provided. Grey - General waste, Blue - Recycling. You will find additional small bins under the sink.
There is a local post office/shop nearby which sells all basic provisions and a delicatessen opposite selling home baked goods, speciality cakes, breads and wines.
WEATHER, WALKING, DOGS, RUNNING/MOUNTAIN BIKING
It can sometimes be very wet and muddy in the peaks. If undertaking any activities which result in you or your dog being wet through or covered in mud, please enter the building through the utility room external door to the left side of the house.
Please rinse off wet clothes and dogs. (Dog towels, dog dryer & a boot/doggy wash shower area provided in the utility room for use during your stay.
Please do not walk through the house covered in mud or let your dog/s do the same for obvious reasons. You will be billed for extra cleaning if this occurs.
Any bikes or equipment must be placed in the garage.
FIRE PRECAUTIONS
Familiarise yourself and other guests with ALL exits out of the building in case of an emergency. Know your escape routes. Windows are sash and fully opening if required.
All smoke alarms are linked, i.e. if one is activated then all will activate
If safe to do so, fight the fire with equipment provided, (fire blanket, extinguisher). Do not take chances with fire. Phone 999 - Address ASHTON HOUSE, MILL BRIDGE, CASTLETON VILLAGE, S33 8WR.
Do not leave any naked flames including candles unattended.
WOOD BURNER
Use only wood - firelighters are in the console table drawers near the terrace external door.
Make sure the wood burner doors are closed to stop smoke filling the room
Do not go to bed and leave the fire unattended. It must be fully dampened down before you leave it unattended
If the C02 alarm activates at any time (loud continual beep) leave the premises immediately
The stove gets extremely hot - do not leave children under 16 unattended near the fire
Doors become hot, use heat proof gloves provided before opening doors and adding wood
ROOF TOP PATIO
Children need to be supervised at all times
On the terrace there are steep metal stairs provided for use in emergencies only. Do not leave young children unattended on the terrace at any time
If the weather conditions are wet or icy, the stairs may become slippery, please take extra care
Do not light fires or BBQs on the terrace area or set off fireworks.
PARKING
Parking is available for 1 car at the side of the house marked - Private Parking Ashton House.
Additional parking is near by (Castleton Visitors Centre) at a cost of £5 per day. It is a two minute walk from Ashton House.
There is a private road to the left of the house, please do not park there at anytime as your vehicle will be clamped.
Please do not block the local road or pavements with unattended vehicles.
ANIMALS
Dogs are permitted - maximum of 2 for the duration of the stay.
Please do not allow dogs on the furniture or soft furnishings.
2 mid-size dogs are provided.
Utility room is heated and can provide a great quiet space for dogs if preferred.
Please do not leave dogs unattended in the property other than the utility room.
Sorry, no cats are allowed. Hamsters, pet rats and mice in cages are also allowed.
LOFT ROOM
If children are staying in the loft area please supervise on the spiral staircase.
Young children should always be supervised if staying in the loft.
Please take extra care when coming down the spiral staircase. It is very steep, especially in the middle of the night to use the bathroom
Mind your head on the roof rafters.
NOISE & NEIGHBOURHOOD
The area is very quiet at night, please respect the privacy of the neighbours at all times.
Do not play loud music after 9.00PM.
Dispose of litter, cigarette butts responsibly.
Do not park on private roads or block drives. Tickets are issued for parking on yellow lines.
Cancellation Policy
To either amend or cancel your booking please contact us as soon as possible via email or phone.
If you amend or cancel your booking with 30 days or more notice of your scheduled check-in date, 50% of the total booking amount will be levied against you. The remaining 50% will be credited back to the card used at the time of booking.
Should you cancel with less than 30 days notice, the full cost of your stay will be levied against you. Failure to honour your booking without prior communication will result in the full booking amount being charge
Upon cancelation we reserve the right re-open Ashton House for availability across all booking platforms in addition to our own website.
